Closing my eyes at the wheel

23 source records

Situation: Closing my eyes at the wheel

Why readers chose it: Drivers and riders who deliberately shut their eyes to see how long or how far they could go.

What readers reported: Sometimes I drive with my eyes closed for as long as I can 🤣🤣🤣

Limit: Community-reported context; not independently verified or a substitute for professional guidance.

⚠ Safety correctionSafety correction: This behavior is dangerous. NHTSA says drivers must focus on the task of safe driving and treats anything that shifts attention away from driving as a distraction. Closing the eyes deliberately removes the visual information needed to respond to traffic and hazards. Sources: NHTSA — Distracted Driving

Id never hit a pot hole before so I purposely hit a pot hole to see what it felt like then my tire was flat so I went to get a new tire for them to tell me I needed a new wheel, they put my spare tire on whilst I ordered a new wheel for £93, then paid £45 for a new tire so that’s £138 and then they forgot to put my sensor on my new wheel so now the tire pressure light is constantly on and it’s going to cost £80-£100 to get a new sensor in the wheel and synced to the car so I gave the car to my sister still with a year left of finance in which I’m still paying for and bought a new car 💀♥ 2source record 983

Have bags of unpaired socks . Try to pair but only on a day to day or hyper focus. The usual is bin them all . Buy new . Forgetting about those in laundry basket and the process starts all over again .. I can wash a load many many times over several days. On a hyper F day of getting shiz done will use the tumble drier but putting the clothes away after folding is a step.to far so will put several loads folded back into the tumble drier so that I can't see it . The amount of expensive clothes and shoes purchased is insane what's more insane is not liking them not sending them back . Paying in 3 . Keeping them a year in my room to sell on Vinted and then handing them over to my daughter to sell because I have no intention of doing it and if she wants to make the money thats something off my activity list. I dont like opening mail so if I havent had another piece telling me oi listen up it goes into a doom pile and it gets binned. Forget passwords just after I have created and ask the supplier to make a note on the system so I always remember. People think im joking I can literally put a pword in go to put it back in and forget. 98 percent combined and its like living on the edge♥ 0source record 1270

I convinced my undiagnosed ND parents to give my room a makeover this year, so far my walls are a sage/ appley green and now it's so relaxing in here plus then they went and bought me new furniture which is arriving before the spring break (plus as a result of my own diagnosis one of my relatives is going for an auDHD assessment & is going on a home makeover).

Waited until 3 days before my thesis was due to actually start writing it. Didn't sleep for 48 hours. Submitted with minutes to spare and got 1st class honours!♥ 1,512source record 131
Wrote my bachelor thesis in 48 hours and passed. Didn’t sleep one bit 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭♥ 2source record 743
In college I waited until the night before to write all my papers. Got A on most somehow. Told myself I was “ruminating” and would coalesce the night before. Too many all-nighters 🥱♥ 2source record 783
Made the conscious decision to wait until “crunch time” to write my capstone project final essay that was like 2500 words because I can lock in. Finished in two hours and got a B so that’s nice♥ 1source record 786
I had been working on my dissertation for a week with next to no sleep. The evening before it was due, I accidentally saved a small section over the entire file, losing the whole thing! I had to re-type it all from memory overnight and handed it in the next day. Somehow, I still got a first-class honours degree! 😂😂 There are so many unhinged questionable ADHD things Ive done that I could never share here.😂♥ 2source record 849

I wrote an 18 page paper my senior year of college in one night. I went outside to smoke at like 2am and forgot my fob to get back into the computer lab. Had to walk to campus police to let me back in lol. Finished it at 7:30am class was at 8♥ 0source record 1065

Was awake for 37 hours straight, wired up and working non-stop on my bachelor’s thesis - all because I had picked a topic I didn’t know enough about, panicked, postponed, extended the deadline and then panicked again. Still got an A 💀♥ 0source record 1253
On the due date of my final essay, I didn't like my thesis and I only had 4 pages out of 10 done. Instead of just committing to the thesis I already planned to follow through with, I rewrote the entire paper, adjusted my thesis, and it took me 7-8 hours to complete and minutes to spare. I did not edit, re-read, or ask for a second opinion before turning it in, just vibes. I scored a 96%♥ 0source record 1456

Impulse bought an entire building and started a business that was successful for 6 years in a week time span. Mind you I had no money to pay for it and didn’t have patience with the loan process, but somehow came up with it. Then one day I woke up and decided I was sick of it and sold the business and the building just as fast as I bought it. I’ve since started another business. I literally amaze myself at what I can accomplish one day and completely rot for a month and do absolutely nothing the next. ADHD is weird. I genuinely feel like we low key have super powers kind of. Does that make sense?

The best answers came weeks after everyone stopped reading

The thread did not behave like a normal comment section. Of the 753 classified records, only 118 arrived in the first 24 hours — but those 118 collected 13,574 of the hearts. The 392 records posted on day four or later collected 2,059 between them, and 300 of those 392 got nothing at all.

So the ranking here is deliberately not a popularity chart. Every comment is scored against the ones that arrived around it, which is how the man who wrote his bachelor thesis in 48 hours (2 hearts, day 52) ends up next to the woman who stayed up until 5am watching Tenerife webcams (3,273 hearts, day 2). The person who bought an entire building on impulse, ran the business for six years, then sold it the day they got bored, posted on day 60 and got three hearts.

The other thing the late records show is scale. The early answers are one-liners — left foot on the brake, eyes closed on the motorway. The answers that arrive after the crowd has gone are the long ones: the £20,000 of student debt from a hyperfixation on the Tudors, the seven online businesses built at weekends and abandoned after one sale each, the wardrobe rebuilt twice around a colour-analysis result.

Dataset, coverage, and methodology
1,600

753
impulse records classified

How this was counted

The working unit is a comment record: one comment describing something the commenter says they actually did. 1,600 comments were exported from a single TikTok video (892 top-level, 708 replies). All of them were read; 753 were classified and 847 were excluded.

Every excluded comment is accounted for with a stated reason — 559 reaction and agreement replies; 108 records naming an individual; 60 emoji-only and fragment posts; 45 sensitive material not republished; 23 commentary about the thread; 21 mishaps rather than impulsive acts; 15 replies addressed to another commenter; 14 answers the commenter withheld; 2 non-english posts.

Group counts are counts of classified comment records, not of people and not of separate incidents. One commenter can appear more than once, and a comment listing several impulses is counted once, under the act it leads with.

Ordering uses arrival-corrected resonance: each comment's heart count as a percentile among the comments posted in the same arrival window. Raw heart counts appear only as displayed social proof.

Quoted text is verbatim, including original spelling and punctuation. Long comments are trimmed at a word boundary and marked with an ellipsis; the full text of every classified record is in the index below.

This is one comment section on one video. It shows what this crowd chose to volunteer, not how common any of these behaviours are.
