The Makeup Changes People Said Made the Biggest Difference
Start with the changes, then see the products
Skin preparation and the order of powder and setting products emerge as foundational changes, while liner placement, bronzer, lashes and blush reshape specific features. Exact named products should sit under the technique they support, with eye and skin safety corrections attached where needed.
- Skin preparation before makeup
- Powder, setting spray and layering order
- Eye definition and waterline alternatives
- Bronzer, contour and underpainting placement
- Lash curling and mascara techniques
- Blush placement and color
- Exact named products mentioned for each technique

If you BARELY have any eyebrow hairs, use volumizing mascara in your eyebrow hairs to make them look thicker naturally😭 clean them up with qtips, then carve them out with concealer or whatever products you use for that process, but once you’re done blending out your product, be sure to add setting powder, don’t over press your brows! Let them bake for a while before dusting them off with a brush, then run through them with another coat of that mascara you first started out with 😭

Monochromatic looks ❤️💖
Low contrast makeup really does compliment me the most and less is more (for me) Because of my hair color, eye color, skin tone and my facial structure being slightly more masculine than feminine , I’ve accepted that full glam just doesn’t look good on me lol
I saw a creator talk about high contrast makeup, I do it now and never going back

How this catalog was built
Source: TikTok comments — 1 video
The answers people could not stop repeating
Ranked by how well each comment did against everything else that arrived at the same time, not by raw hearts. That matters here: only 47 of the 3,761 comments landed in the first 72 hours, and those 47 hold 39,819 of the thread's 100,091 hearts.
What the thread was actually about

The aisle nobody expects
96 answers reach for something that was never sold as makeup and give it a job anyway. 37 use Vaseline or Aquaphor — under the eyes before concealer, as a primer, on the brows, on the lash curler. 16 use hairspray as setting spray. 7 use calamine lotion as a base for oily or sweaty skin. Others name aloe vera gel, foot powder, chafing gel, men's aftershave balm, beard dye, diaper-rash cream, witch hazel and rubbing alcohol.
None of that is a recommendation — several of the same threads carry warnings about milia, dryness and eye damage. It is simply what the comment section said.
The comments almost nobody saw
Hearts in this thread went to whoever arrived first. 2,132 of the 2,692 indexed answers — 79% — finished with one heart or none, and 98.8% of all comments were posted after day three. Ranking by arrival-corrected resonance instead of raw hearts pulls these back up:
- “Actually warming up my mascara, it goes in smooth and lasts all day!!” — posted on day 9 with 13 hearts.
- “Deeper cream blush on back of cheek first and blend, then lighter toned blush on cheek bone under eye then blend” — day 22, 12 hearts.
- “skin prep before makeup! some milky toner n thirst burst drops will have your makeup looking like a filter” — day 9, 11 hearts.
- “Lashes and smudging out the bottom eyeliner ;)” — day 73, 7 hearts, and still one of the highest-resonance answers in the index.
Conversation context and side chatter
Seven numbers that describe this comment section
This is not a shopping thread. It is a placement thread — the same handful of moves, described over and over in slightly different words.
- 208 answers mention bronzer or contour, and 57 of those are specifically about the nose.
- 350 mention lashes or mascara — but 39 of them are about curling rather than buying, several with a hairdryer involved.
- 347 mention blush, and the argument is almost always about where it goes — the nose, the forehead, the chin, the temples — not which one to buy.
- 300 mention powder and 186 mention setting spray, mostly to argue about the order the two go in.
- 144 mention the waterline or tightlining. Black is the default; brown, white and nude all have their own defenders.
- 105 put something bright in the inner corner of the eye, which is the tightest cluster of agreement in the index.
- 67 describe leaving foundation out entirely, in favour of a skin tint, a tinted sunscreen or spot concealer.
Dataset, coverage, and methodology
How this was counted
The working unit is a top-level comment record. The export holds 3,761 comments on one video: 2,806 top-level and 955 posted as replies inside another comment's thread.
2,692 top-level comments named a specific beauty step, product or change. Each one is a row in the index below, filed under exactly one of the 17 reviewed categories, with its text preserved exactly as written.
The other 1,069 comments are outside the index: all 955 replies, which are follow-up discussion rather than answers, plus 114 top-level comments that were agreement, a question, note-taking about the thread, a tag of another account, or too short to identify a step.
Counts are counts of classified comment records. One person can comment more than once, and two comments describing the same step are counted as two records - nothing was merged.
Ordering uses a like-percentile within arrival cohort rather than raw hearts. Only 47 comments arrived in the first 72 hours and they hold 39,819 of the 100,091 hearts, so raw likes mostly measure who got there first.
Category names are reader-facing labels written after reading the corpus; commenters did not tag themselves. A category count is not a ranking of what works.
